Professor Rodrigo Resende began his Judo training at the age of four, under the guidance of his father, Geraldo Resende, a black belt trained by the 9th degree Judo red belt Master Takeshi Miura.
As Rodrigo's interest in competition blossomed around the age of 12, his father introduced him to training directly under Master Miura.
By the age of 13, Rodrigo started exploring Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes to enhance his Judo groundwork (ne-waza), and since then, Jiu Jitsu has become an integral component of his martial arts training regime.

“I started training Jiu Jitsu in April of 2015. I was always fascinated with the art since I first saw it used in the UFC.
As a law enforcement officer I think it is arguably the most effective set of tactics that can not only control a situation in the shortest period of time but also with the least chance of injury to myself or the subject.

I started training in 2006. I had just graduated from high school and was not playing football anymore, so I decided to try MMA. I quickly fell in love with BJJ and was training six days a week. In 2008 I started teaching kids and adult classes.
I’ve had two MMA fights with A professional record of 1-1. I’ve also competed in numerous BJJ tournaments all over Alberta. In 2013 I decided to switch gyms and come train with Rodrigo Resende and it instantly became my new home. I received my black belt in 2021 and became A professor in 2022. I couldn’t imagine my life without BJJ.
